Camera Tests with The Webster Project

One of my favourite bands in Winnipeg, or anywhere else for that matter, is The Webster Project. They are an ensemble band featuring many talented performers who are as diverse in their musical backgrounds as they are in the instruments they play (which includes a Chinese flute). The songs are from the mind of Mike Webster, who pours his personal life stories into music.

Earlier this month, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take stills and video of their gig at Fionn MacCool’s Irish Pub. They put on a great show. For the evening, I used a Canon 5D Mark II with three lenses—40mm 2.8, 85mm 1.8 and 70-200mm 2.8. The place was well lit for a pub, and featured yellow and red stage lights, which made for interesting tones. 

The band will be playing at The Cavern on Friday March 27. It is a great venue for photos and video. Unfortunately, I will not be able to see them, as I will be travelling. However, if you are in Winnipeg, I urge you to check out this great independent band.

 

The Webster Project will also be performing at Cinema Carnival on June 12 at The Park Theatre. The theme for Cinema Carnival is “Frightmares” and will be featuring some of the best short horror films in recent years, including an advance screening of “Mockingbird”.
